Documents and training tools from Fremont Unified School District's Administrator's Service-Learning Training 8/12/2009
Background:
Under a CalServe grant from the California Department of Education, FUSD is working to develop a comprehensive K-12 service-learning program that ensures a high-quality service-learning experience for all students at least once each grade span. A large number of teachers have been trained in service-learning and site leads have been established at each school. In the spring of 2009, student leaders in FUSD selected the environment as their service theme for the 2009-2010 school year. On Wednesday, August 12, all administrative staff in Fremont Unified School District participated in a service-learning training session focused on investigating environmental service-learning opportunities. The training allowed site administrators and department directors (transportation, maintenance, human resources, etc) to develop a common definition of service-learning and begin to collaborate on the development of environmental service-learning project ideas to support the students' service theme for 2009-2010.
