Documents and Training Tools from After-School Service-Learning Workshops 1/19/2010 & 1/28/2010

Overview:

On Tuesday, January 19, 2010, after school staff from Hayward's YEP program participated in a service-learning training organized by YEP and Volunteer Hayward. This training marked a continutation of work between the Alameda County Office of Education and YEP to develop and implement service-learning after school..

On Friday, January 28, 2010, attendees of the Region 4 After School Programs Conference "Bridging the Bay" participated in two sessions featuring an introduction to service-learning.

After School Service-Learning Project Ideas, Guides & Tools

In 2007, the Alameda County Office of Education worked with YEP Hayward to produce curricular materials to support the implementation of service-learning programming in an after school setting. Each of these project plan guides stands on its own as a complete service-learning project, but may be improved by connecting with day time classroom teachers to extend student learning.
